The win keeps the Aggies NCAA Football playoff hopes alive, but despite the victory on Saturday, they still sit second in the conference power rankings behind the Crimson Tide.
Bama’ scored early and cruised to a 49-30 victory over Arkansas. The road win keep the Tide tops in the conference and number one in the nation, but they can’t look ahead as they have a tough contest against the Vols’ in week 7. A win will setup the biggest game of the year and a must-watch game for fans when they host Texas A&M in two weeks time.
This was supposed to be a big year for the SEC and while these two programs are keeping national title hops alive, its been a tough year for several programs.
Georgia, Ole’ Miss, and LSU are all 3-2 on the year and each have issues. These three programs where all picked by experts to challenge for a conference championship, but now it appears they are playing out the season to get an invite to a decent bowl game.
The Volunteers could save their year with an upset over the Crimson Tide on Saturday, but the defense needs to play its best game of the year and some early turnovers would help. A loss and this program could drop out of the AP Top-25 next week and have fans and coaches looking towards 2017.
Florida’s rescheduled contest against the Bayou Bengals didn’t hurt as the Gators remain third in the latest power rankings and still with an outside shot at the playoffs. They will need to win the rest of the games on their schedule and the conference championship to have any title hopes.
