Gonzalez has been active in the flyweight limit of 112 pounds for a couple of years before deciding to move up to 115 pounds (Junior Bantamweight) in search for more lucrative fights.
Cuadras, who is unbeaten in 35 fights since turning pro in 2008, is the reigning WBC Super Flyweight (jr. bantamweight) world champion. He is fresh off a win over Richie Mepranum in a referee technical decision last April.:
It would be Gonzalez’s most challenging fight of his career because he is risking his prestigious P4P title which he held for a couple of years. In his decision to move up to 115 pounds limit, he had to drop his WBC Light Flyweight title. If Cuadras pulls off the upset on Saturday, he risks losing his P4P title and it would be an uphill battle for Chocolatito to regain his lost glory.
Cuadras is a tough opponent for the reigning pound-for-pound king. Aside from being unbeaten in 35 fights since turning pro in 2008, the 28-year-old Mexican is a known knockout artist, having a KO rating of 75 percent although Chocolatito has a higher KO rating of 84 percent. Cuadras enjoys a slight edge on height and reach. Both are orthodox fighters.

Although he isn’t bothered by Cuadras media statements as his way of promoting the fight, Gonzalez said Cuadras talks too much.
“Yes, Cuadras talks a lot, but I don’t take it personally,” said Gonzalez. “If that’s what he has to do to pump himself up, it’s no problem for me. I’ll be ready to fight on September 10th,” he added.
For his part, Cuadras said, he’s just having fun as he really enjoys boxing.
“I’m just having fun with the sport. It’s not my intention to get in his head, but if it bothers him, I’m OK with that. I’m not in here to mess around. I’m here to fight and win,” Cuadras said.
