Review: Lea Sprunger wins 400 meter hurdles at Diamond League Birmingham (Includes first-hand account)

Sprunger finished in first place with a time of 54.86 seconds, where she left Janieve Russell of Jamaica in second place with 54.91 seconds. Meghan Beesley of Great Britain came in third place with 55.83 seconds. Sprunger noted in a post on social media that this was her first win at the Diamond League, and she was very pleased with this milestone.

European Championships

This marks her second consecutive win in a short time period. At the 2018 European Championships in Berlin, Germany, Sprunger won the gold medal in the women’s 400 meter hurdles final, which took place on August 10.

Sprunger completed that race with a time of 54.33 seconds, which was a European leading mark. Ironically enough, Meghan Beesley finished third place in the European Championships as well, claiming the bronze medal, with 55.31 seconds.
