Pacquiao says fight with Mayweather is 80-20 to happen

Last month, Mayweather announced he is fighting Pacquiao on May 2 but he has not signed the fight contract despite Pacquiao’s acceptance of all the terms and conditions that Mayweather wanted.

“I think it will happen, I believe that,” he told Ringside/Skysports. “If this doesn’t happen now I don’t think it will, so now is the time. If you ask me what the percentage is, it’s 80-20 [that it will happen]. I think he’s got pressure. He’s got no alibi – blood testing is no longer a problem, Bob Arum the promoter is no longer a problem, now there are no more problems.’

Pacquiao also noted that the fans are pressuring Mayweather to make good his announcement that he wants the fight to take place on May 2. He said that his promoter Bob Arum has already agreed to the date as well as the venue.

With regards to the fight purse, Pacquiao said he has already agreed to 60-40 sharing in favor of Mayweather.

Mayweather has remained tight lipped about about the ongoing negotiations since his announcement of the May 2 fight date last month.

The unbeaten champion is traveling to Australia this week to meet his fans there and to do some promotional appearances in Melbourne, Sidney and other key cities. Presumably he will make a major announcement about the ongoing talks on the long-delayed fight. Read more:

Pacquiao has traveled to London on Wednesday on invitation from Prince Harry. Later he met with former sparring partner Amir Khan and they talked about a possible fight on May 30 in case the Mayweather fight falls apart for the last time.
