article imageNFL Trade Rumors: Matt Forte to Denver Broncos?

By Larry Seely     Sep 29, 2015 in Sports
Denver - The Chicago Bears have opened the 2015 NFL season 0-3 and after a shutout loss to Seattle on Sunday, the front office traded away two top players. Several football experts believe the franchise isn't finished moving high-profile players.
Matt Forte is 29 years old and a free agent after this season. That has led to rumors of the veteran running back being moved before the trade deadline.
The former second round draft pick is one of the few bright spots for Chicago this year, averaging over 90 yards rushing per game and a solid 4.7 yards per carry. His nine receptions are also a highlight as he's been one of the best dual-threat backs in the game since his arrival back in 2008.
Denver is one of the best franchises in football, but despite having Peyton Manning under center, they have struggled to score points in 2015. The Broncos running game has lacked explosive plays this season and injuries, along with inconsistent play from the backs already on the roster, makes this squad a perfect match for the veteran back.
Forte has nearly 8,000 yards rushing and another 3,800 yards receiving in his career. His 58 touchdowns and ability to pickup the blitz, makes him a perfect fit for any franchise looking for a boost on offense. Forte doesn't have much NFL playoff experience, but his leadership on and off the field make him a valuable asset.
Yahoo sports has broken down his stats based on temperature and Forte has played extremely well in cold weather situations, another reason he would help the Broncos on their quest to win Manning and the team a Super Bowl title, but with any trade it must be a win-win for both parties involved and with the Bears looking to rebuild, a second round pick or a couple of mid round selections could be just what it takes to make this trade happen.
