NFL Fantasy Football: Week five quarterback rankings

Heading into week five, four signal callers are averaging 300 or more yards per game and six QB’s are averaging two touchdowns per game. Andrew Luck is tops in this weeks player rankings as his Indianapolis Colts are set to play Chicago, who is struggling in the secondary, making the scoring projection of over 26 points a good reason to start Luck this weekend.

Tom Brady returns to New England after his four game suspension and you just know he wants to come out firing. The Patriots travel to Cleveland on Sunday and face a less than average Browns defense. Look for Brady to steadily improve throughout the game and 20+ points is a good target for owners looking to start the future Hall of Fame leader.

Injuries and bye weeks are now forcing lineup changes and for those needing help, finding a good quarterback on the waiver wire can improve chances of winning this week. For those looking for a long-term answer at the position, Brian Hoyer of Chicago could be the answer. Head coach John Fox stated the Bears could keep Hoyer as the starter after his performance against Detroit and with some good weapons to work with, he could be a great option for those in need.

Rookie Carson Wentz of Philadelphia is another ‘sleeper’ heading into this week. Averaging over 250 yards per game and making good decisions, the Eagles youngster is quickly climbing the NFL player rankings and making a name for himself as a good substitute for struggling or injured QB’s in the league.

This weeks injury report needs to be watched closely as Carson Palmer, Cam Newton, and Trevor Siemian where all knocked out of games with injuries, but could recover enough to play this week. Watch for their availability and act accordingly and if help is needed, look on the waiver wire and see if Hoyer or Wentz is available.
