Here’s a look at the top wide receiver options for week 9 and for those owners needing help with their roster, a couple waiver wire pickups that could make a big difference over the next few weeks.
NY Giants phenom Odell Beckham Jr. had a terrific outing against the Saints, catching eight passes for 130 yards and three touchdowns, the kind of numbers that experts expected before the year began. He and his team should have another strong outing this weekend against Tampa Bay, who just allowed 160 yards to Julio Jones.
Peyton Manning has just seven touchdown passes on the year, not the numbers fans or fantasy owners are used too, but the veteran had a big game against Green Bay on Sunday and that helped those who have Demaryius Thomas. This week against a struggling Colts defense, Thomas should continue his solid play and that makes the star wide receiver a must-start player this week.
Baltimore lost star receiver Steve Smith for the year on Sunday, but that injury will open the door for Kamar Aiken. The 26-year-old played well early in the year when Smith missed some time and now takes over as the number one target for the Ravens passing game. Aiken might not have huge numbers, but eight to 12 points per week is enough to make him a solid option for owners that need help off the waiver wire.
San Diego lost its top target, Keenan Allen, but with veterans Stevie Johnson and Malclom Floyd waiting in the wings, owners have two good options as replacements. The Chargers passing game is one of the best in the NFL with Phillip Rivers leading the way — that alone should be enough for owners to grab one of these wide receivers in week 9.
