NFL Fantasy Football: Week 5 running back rankings

Heading into week 5, player rankings look much different than when the season started and its now time to adjust rosters and find players that are performing at a high level.

This week has a number of good match ups and with the right moves, they could help pickup a win in your league. David Johnson was arguably the top back in the rankings heading into 2016 and despite a slow start, the youngster is set for a big week. The Arizona Cardinals are struggling and its not known if quarterback Carson Palmer will play, meaning Johnson should get plenty of carries against a banged up San Francisco defense.

C.J. Anderson has taken control of the back field issues in Denver and is having a terrific start to the 2016 season. His duel-threat abilities make him a must-start player. This week the Broncos face the Falcons, who rank near the bottom in rushing defense, leaving experts to believe 16+ points is a logical target.

While not a big star, Cleveland Browns running back Isaiah Crowell is quietly having a big year. His 6.4 yards per carry is best in the league among starters and his 96 yards per game is second best in the NFL. With Cleveland facing New England on Sunday, look for the Browns to use the running game to control the clock, meaning Crowell should get a heavy workload.

Injuries have already had a big impact in the league and for owners, it can wreck a roster, but there’s help on the waiver wire, both long and short-term for those in need.

Baltimore Ravens back Terrance West was given starting duties this weekend and he performed well, rushing for over 100 yards and scoring a touchdown. According to Yahoo Sports, West is still available in most leagues and would be a great option in week 5.
