NFL Fantasy Football: Week three quarterback rankings

For those owners looking for some friendly advice, here’s a closer look at week three and the best players to start, who possibly to sit this weekend, and the signal callers worth grabbing off the waiver wire if your current roster just isn’t right.

Matt Ryan is off to a great start with 730 yards in two games, four touchdown passes, and averaging a whooping 10 yards per pass attempt. This week Atlanta faces an average New Orleans Saints defense and with the firepower at the skilled positions for the Falcons, expect another big week from Ryan.

Ben Roethlisberger is another signal caller off to a hot start with six touchdowns already and he’s doing it with several key receivers and the Steelers top running back yet to play. Pittsburgh will play Philadelphia this weekend and despite the Eagles strong start to the season, look for the veteran to have another strong outing with 25 or more points a strong possibility.

The Colts might be 0-2 on the year, but Andrew Luck is a must-start quarterback in week three against San Diego. The Chargers defense has allowed some big numbers and seem to fade in the second half. If Indianapolis fail to run the ball again on Sunday, Luck will need to carry the load and that could lead to a big weekend for the Colts quarterback.

When it comes to benching or dropping a player, two weeks doesn’t seem enough time to give them a chance. With just 12 games left until the fantasy football playoffs begin, starting the year 0-3 doesn’t leave much time to gain ground.

Several players have started slow or been injured and its time to cut the cord. Seattle’s Russell Wilson is playing behind a poor offensive line and his ankle injury is clearly effecting his performance. Wilson could rebound, but when? Look on the waiver wire for help or risk not playing for a championship in your league this season.

Speaking of the waiver wire, for those owners looking for a new starter or some depth at quarterback, there are a number of options in week three.

Carson Wentz of Philadelphia has been steady for a rookie and though his numbers aren’t spectacular, he is scoring enough points to warrant a look. Sam Bradford is another option as he looked great in his first start with Minnesota. The former first overall pick in the 2010 NFL Draft has some weapons to work with and with Vikings All Pro running back Adrian Peterson now out with an injury, look for Bradford and company to use the pass a bit more in the coming weeks, making him a great option in week three and for the rest of the regular season.
