NBA News and Rumors: Jimmy Butler to LA Lakers?

With a likely top-3 draft pick in June, several quality youngsters on the roster, and plenty of room under the salary cap, it appears the purple and gold will make some deals this summer and according to the latest rumors on social media, Jimmy Butler of Chicago could be their main target.

The 27-year-old is one of the best scoring forwards in the game and the type of player that could bring some star power to an organization that has struggled in recent years. The former first round draft pick is in a tough situation in the windy city as the Bulls are strapped under the cap and have limited options at this point in making changes, but that could all change if they decide to move the All Star in the coming weeks.

Chicago struggled in the playoffs when point guard Rajon Rondo was injured as depth in the back court became an issue. While moving Butler would be tough, it could land the Bulls a couple youngsters like Brandon Ingram and D’Angelo Russell, along with at least one high draft pick, something that could help with depth and money moving forward.

Los Angeles would acquire a player they covet and a veteran that could help the young roster reach its full potential and possibly a trip to the NBA playoffs, possibly in the next years or two.

With the players draft just a few weeks off, rumors and speculation will create some buzz with the fans, but for these two franchises, moves must be made for improvement to happen and that is fact. Butler would be a great fit in southern California and with Johnson dead-set on making this team good again, even a little over spending for a star player would be acceptable.
