Melindo is coming off two successive victories following his loss to Mexican Javier Mendoza last year at the Auditorio Municipal Fausto Gutiérrez Moreno, Tijuana, Baja California in Mexico.
It will be be a make or break title fight for Melindo, who is making his third attempt to bag a major world title.
In 2013, Melindo made his first attempt to win a world title for the Philippines against Mexican Juan Francisco Estrada at the Cotai Arena of The Venetian in Macau, China. His second attempt was against Javier Mendoza, also of Mexico last year.
Melindo is making his third major title fight in the Philippines and will enjoy a home crowd advantage over his Thai opponent.
“To be honest, I am not too pressured about this fight. I do understand what is at stake here, but I want to assure everyone that I will do my best. This is the first time I’m fighting for a world title here in my very own country and I believe this makes a whole lot of difference. It’s always been my dream to fight a world championship with my fellow Filipinos as the audience,” Melindo said
If Melindo wins on Nov. 26, he will be the 5th reigning world champion from the Philippines. While the interim title is temporary until the holder becomes the undisputed champion after a successful defense, it is nevertheless a major world tille. Read more:
