Earlier in the week Broner said in a video interview on Fytehype that he actually got a call from Michael Koncz.
“I hear they want me to fight Pacquiao next…Michael Koncz actually called me…we waiting to hear from him…I love fighting southpaws, man…he’s a great guy…it’ll be a hell of a fight…young rising star against an elite Hall of Famer going out,” stated 4-division world champion Adrien Broner, who revealed details about a conversation he had with Manny Pacquiao’s adviser about a potential fight,” said Broner, who has yet to finalize plans for his next fight.
Now Koncz, who has been traveling with Pacquiao in the last couple of weeks to overseas destinations including Dubai, Greece and Israel, regrets that Broner has divulged his conversation with him prematurely but Koncz nonetheless confirmed he called Broner.
“I wish Adrien would not have made the comments he did to the media prematurely. But yes I did personally call him, spoke with him and we discussed the possibility of him facing Manny,” Koncz told Boxing Scene.
Pacquiao has yet to decide on his next opponent which is a choice between WBO light welterweight Champion Terence Crawford and WBO welterweight champion and former foe Timothy Bradley.
Pacquiao’s promoter Bob Arum, who prepares a shortlist of opponents for Pacquiao’s April 9 farewell fight, has yet to comment on the reported Koncz-Broner talks. If Arum decides to include Broner in the lineup, there will now be three names again in the shortlist for Pacquiao to make his choice.
Arum’s original list includes Amir Khan but the British challenger has decided to walk away from the fight in exasperation for having waited weeks and months for both camps to agree on the terms of the fight.
