Josh Peck talks Wendy’s, college tailgate tour, 2017 VMA awards (Includes interview)

Peck made an appearance at the food truck, where Wendy’s served free Dave’s single cheeseburgers, and they tossed games of corn-hole. The football fans were able to celebrate their team with Wendy’s, the official hamburger of the NCAA. “I’ve been a fan of Wendy’s since I was six years old, dipping my fries into my frosties on road trips with my mom. I don’t know if you’ve done that yet, but treat yourself because it’s amazing. It sounds a little crazy but it’s so good,” he said. “I’ve been a big fan of college football, and I’ve always been a big Bruins guy. When I found out that Wendy’s would be filming these tailgates throughout the season, it seemed like a perfect match. I have such a fascination with food trucks as it is. It’s going to get hot tomorrow, for sure.”

On his plans for the future, Peck shared, “I just got married, so now I let my wife do the future planning. I have a movie coming out early next year. Everything is good. Life is good.”

At the 2017 MTV Video Music Awards (VMAs), one of the highlight moments was when he reunited with Drake & Josh co-star Drake Bell, which went viral, especially since they captured that moment live on social media. “That was a long time coming. The people needed that. They deserved it,” he said, with a chuckle. “As soon as we got to chat at the VMAs, we immediately needed to go public with it, so that people can sleep at night. The brotherhood can’t break up like that.”

Digital transformation of entertainment industry

“In many ways, technology has exploded our preconceived notion of what the industry was,” Peck said. “Forever, it was a very clear, finite system of the way in which you get in the business. Now with social and digital entertainment (Netflix or YouTube or Amazon), it is much for meritocracy, where you can go directly to your audience. There are no more gatekeepers, which is fabulous in so many ways.”

Peck is an avid user of technology. “I am incredibly dependent. Every around me is in the post-meeting phase. All my friends are on Nate’s all the time, it’s the Uber of food delivery. Also, my mom uses technology to text me old baby photos. Technology is very much a big part of my life,” he said.

For aspiring actors, he said, jokingly, “Pick another career.” “You no longer have to take the traditional route. Take your destiny in your own hands, and put your content on YouTube and on social media. Go for it, and do it yourself,” he said. “All you need is a camera and strong Internet connection.”

Peck defined the word success as an “inside game.” “It’s just about doing something you are passionate about, and using it to help somebody else,” he said. ‘That’s what it all comes down to.”
