A known knockout artist and a bronze medalist in the 2008 Olympics, Wilder (35-0-0, 34 KOs) has scored 34 stoppages of his 35 opponents inside four rounds.
The 29-year-old fighter from Tuscaloosa, Alabama, also known as “The Bronze Bomber,” is coming off a TKO win against Johann Duhaupas Saturday at the Legacy Arena, Birmingham, Alabama.
While Wilder needs to face Alexander Povetkin for the mandatory defence of his title, he has been angling a lucrative fight against either Fury or Klitshko.
Klitschko, who holds the WBA, WBO, IBF and IBO heavyweight belts, is recuperating from his training injury for his title fight against Fury. who is the WBO International Heavyweight titlist. The fight which was set to happen in Germany is being held in abeyance pending the examinations by Klitschko’s doctors.
“It will be at the same arena and we are hoping to have it happen late in November or early December, Fury’s manager, Mick Hennessy, said:
“Wladimir is being seen by a specialist who treats the German national football team and they are going to work on it over the next few days. Hennessy stressed. “We have got to match up what dates are good for TV – but the stadium is okay.”
“It was like deja vu for Tyson, because two fights against David Haye were called off and the Dereck Chisora one was also postponed. He was upset initially, shocked, but it will be rescheduled and it will happen before Christmas. Hopefully there’s an announcement next week,” he added.
Wilder isn’t in a hurry to face the winner of the Klitschko-Fury fight as he has to face the mandatory challenger but hopes that it will come by next year.
“Hopefully, sometime end of next year,” Wilder said. “We got to get these mandatories out of the way.”
