Comelec ruling motivates Pacquiao to train hard to ensure victory

Pacquiao is facing Timothy Bradley for the third time in a non-title bout on April 9 at the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada.

A fellow senatorial candidate and a former senator sought the blocking of the Pacquiao-Bradley fight on ground that it will give Pacquiao undue advantage as a candidate with the expected massive media coverage during the fight.

Pacquiao, who is an incumbent congressman representing the lone district of Sarangani province is seeking a senate seat in the May 9 general elections.

“I’m very happy right now because the Comelec came up with a favorable decision. This further motivates me to work hard to ensure victory,” Pacquiao told Philboxing’s Aquiles Z. Zonio.

“This is not for my personal glory. I’m fighting for the honor of our country and to glorify God through sports,” Pacquiao added.

Pacquiao is now winding down his training at the Wild Club Boxing Club in Hollywood and will be moving to Las Vegas on April 4 along with trainer Freddie Roach and their entourage for the final phase of his training.

For this fight Roach is looking forward to a spectacular win by Pacquiao to cap his 21-year pro career.

“I told him a KO means he’ll do better in the Senate race. With a KO, the country will go crazy,” Roach said

Roach expects Pacquiao to win by knockout.
