2016 NFL Power Rankings: Vikings last unbeaten, Brady lifts Pats

The Vikings defense has been phenomenal this season, allowing just 63 points, but the bigger story could be the play of newcomer Sam Bradford at quarterback. The veteran signal caller was dealt to the team just before the regular season opener and has looked right at home in guiding the offense in Minnesota.

Speaking of big news, New England got the headlines this week with All Pro Tom Brady returning from a four game suspension and looking in mid-season form. The veteran threw for over 400 yards and made the Patriots offense look potent once again. With the defense playing extremely well, the Pats’ enter week six at second place in the latest power rankings, and stand as a good bet to win the AFC East yet again.

When looking for the best division in football, the NFC East is the only one with three teams with a winning record. Dallas is playing great football behind rookies Dak Prescott and Ezekiel Elliott. The youngsters have helped guide the Cowboys to a 4-1 record and the division lead.

Denver and Philadelphia have now both suffered their first loss of the year. The Broncos at 4-1 are still formidable and tied with Oakland for the AFC West lead. The Eagles lost a tough game to Detroit in week five, dropping the team to 3-1 and just behind Dallas. Both of these franchises expected challenges this season, but both are playing above expectations and that should have the fans pumped heading into the back-half of the 2016 NFL season.

With nine teams in the league with just a single defeat, it’s still too early to predict who will play in this year’s Super Bowl. However, this season will certainly lead to some great storylines and keep the fans interest at a high level. As it all plays out, the NFL couldn’t ask for a better scenario, as it will boost the ratings and keep people flocking to stadiums.
