Several sites and experts have released their latest mock drafts and despite playing just one game, several players have made a significant jump in the latest player rankings and for a few, they will need to show more in the coming weeks or risk dropping in value.
Walter football is among the most reputable draft sites and their latest release has Ohio State quarterback Cardale Jones as the top prospect, despite playing just four games in his college career. The youngster took advantage of injuries and guided the Buckeyes to a National Championship and after his opening performance against a solid Virginia Tech defense last weekend, Jones is ranked as a top-5 prospect by several experts.
Ohio State head coach Urban Meyer has done a terrific job of recruiting as the Buckeyes have several players ready to play in the NFL. Defensive tackle Joey Bosa missed last week’s contest, but the youngster is projected as the first overall pick by Matt Miller of Bleacher Report, but of course it all depends on what teams is picking first next April.
Teams looking for help at quarterback should have several quality options in the first round. Connor Cook of Michigan State is the most experienced of these young signal callers after his return to Michigan State for his senior season. Cook has a big chance to shine this week against highly ranked Oregon and with a solid season for the Spartans, he could push himself into talk as the top player available for the draft.
The Cleveland Browns are among the teams that will likely look for a new offensive leader and depending on how they finish this season, Jones, Cook, or Jared Goff of Cal could be the next player to try and lead this franchise into the playoffs, but its a long season ahead and strange things happen and what they need now could change dramatically in the coming months.
