Ivy League Professor Charged with Beating Wife to Death

A University of Pennsylvania professor has been charged with beating his wife to death after she told friends that she wanted a divorce.
The economics professor had told authorities that he was in Philadelphia when the murder occurred but after investigating the incident, police thought otherwise.
Rafael Robb, according to police, staged the scene to look like a robbery gone bad and his alibi didn't hold up when they checked into it.
The professor said that he had last seen his wife alive just before driving to work after dropping their 12-year-old daughter off at school.
Police though differently:
"Dr. Robb lied to the police about an obvious motive for this murder, his knowledge of his wife's recent plans to divorce him and obtain a significant portion of his wealth," according to an affidavit by Upper Merion police Detective David Gershanick.
When police first saw the wife's injuries, they were so extensive they thought she had been shot in the face with a shotgun..after further investigation it was show that she had been beaten to death with a blunt object.
Ellen Robb, 49, had told relatives and others that she had hired a divorce attorney and was expecting $4,000 a month in spousal support, prosecutors said in court papers. The couple have a 12-year-old daughter.
And now their daughter is likely to have no parents if this professor committed the crimes he is accused of. What a shame what greed--he was afraid of losing his money to his wife--can do to a person and their family.
