The summer of 2017 was a great time for concerts in New York, especially rock shows. Chicago performing at Jones Beach Theater on Long Island was by far the best live spectacle.

Particularly impressive about their show at Jones Beach is that it celebrated their 50 year anniversary as a multi-faceted group.
Chicago was able to deliver hit after hit, and the iconic band soared as a whole, in a lengthy set that exceeded 30 songs; moreover, they took their fans on a musical journey over the past 50 years, where it was evident that they get better with age and experience. The more the band performed, the more their New York audience wanted to hear!
The highlight songs included ""25 or 6 to 4," "Beginnings," "If You Leave Me Now," "Look Away," as well as the perennial favorite "You're the Inspiration," which was the tune that many concertgoers had as their wedding song. Jeff Coffey was superb on lead vocals and acoustic guitar, as well as founding member Robert Lamm on vocals and keyboards, Lee Loughnane on trumpet, Keith Howland on lead guitar, Tris Imboden on drums, Lou Pardini on keys, Ray Herrmann on the woodwinds, James Pankow on trombone, and Walfredo Reyes Jr. on percussion.
Their Long Island show was proof that their induction into the coveted Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 2016 was long-overdue, and based on sheer merit. They shared the Jones Beach Theater stage with The Doobie Brothers, who were also exceptional live performers.
