Review: Sam Kendricks wins pole vault in IAAF Diamond League in Shanghai Special

On May 13, American pole vaulter Sam Kendricks won the Men's Pole Vault in the IAAF Diamond League that took place in Shanghai, China.

Kendricks jumped 5.88 meters on his second attempt, which was enough to secure him a first place win. He had previously cleared 5.78 meters with total confidence on his first try. Kendricks was the 2017 USA indoor pole vault champion.
Olympic silver medalist and French pole vaulter Renaud Lavillenie came in second place at this IAAF Diamond League event with a clearance of 5.83 meters. Lavillenie is the world record holder in the indoor pole vault event (with 6.16 meters that was set back in February of 2014).
Canadian pole vaulter and 2015 World champion Shawn Barber finish third with a jump of 5.60 meters. Thiago Braz da Silva, who won the gold medal at the 2016 Olympic Games in Rio de Janeiro, came in fourth place with 5.60 meters. Greek pole vaulter Konstantinos Filippidis finished fifth with 5.50 meters.
