Review: Mariah Carey flops at New Year's Eve performance in New York Special

From start to finish, Mariah Carey's live performance in new York for "Dick Clark's New Year's Rockin' Eve with Ryan Seacrest" was an epic fail.

Carey butchered the New Year's Eve staple "Auld Lang Syne" and it was followed by a sour and lackluster performance of her smash single "Emotions," where it became obvious that she was lip-synching. "Just walk me down," she told her back-up dancers. "Well, Happy New Year," Carey said. "We can't hear but I'll just get through the moment."
Carey continued, "All right. We didn't have a check for this song, so we will just say it went to No. 1 and that's what it is, okay?"
As she tried to sing a lyric from "Emotions," she noted that they were "missing some of this vocal," when in reality, it was the whole song, however, the songstress remarked that "it is what it is." She went on to let the audience sing for her. "We didn't have a sound-check for this New Year's baby," she said. "That's okay, you guys." "Put these monitors, please," she said, squatting down and begging the production team.
The pop diva closed with an equally disastrous version of "We Belong Together," which she claimed was the "album version," when in return it was played directly from the album, while Carey stood there and look glamorous.
