Dos Anjos has been forced to pull out of the fight against McGregor because of a broken foot. The UFC lightweight champion broke his foot last week, and as of now there is nobody taking his place. However, the UFC is working on finding someone else to fight McGregor.
The fight between McGregor and Anjos was going to be a super-fight, and was going to be the first time in UFC history when a fighter could possibly hold two different titles in two different division, if McGregor won the fight.
According to ESPN, Donald Cerrone (29-7) may be considered a replacement, as Josh Jones, Cerrone's manager, has expressed interest. Nate Diaz may also be considered as a replacement, as in the past McGregor's camp talked about McGregor fighting Diaz.
If McGregor doesn't headline UFC 196, which is being held at MGM Grand Garden Arena, the event will likely be headlined by Holly Holm and Miesha Tate. The two are already on the card as the co-main event. Holm will be defending her bantamweight title against Tate.
Both Holm and McGregor are coming off huge wins. A few months ago, McGregor defeated Jose Aldo in under 20 seconds of the first round, while Holm handed Ronda Rousey her first loss.
