The cause of his death has yet to be released to the public, as indicated in the press release.
Static was the lead singer, guitar player and keyboard player for the acclaimed metal band Static-X. In addition, he is known for his solo work, especially since he released Pighammer in October of 2011, which he produced himself. He was also known as Wayne Richard Wells. He was scheduled to co-headline shows with industrial metal band Powerman 5000 and heavy metal group Drowning Pool over the next few months.
Static-X was signed to Warner Bros. Records, and they released six studio albums. The group's final line-up included Ashes on lead guitar, Andy Cole on bass, as well as Sean Davidson on percussion and drums. Their first two albums on Warner Bros., Wisconsin Death Trip and Machine were certified platinum and gold respectively, by the Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA). As a band, they released fourteen singles to radio, and they filmed thirteen music videos for their fans.
Condolences for the late platinum-selling rocker were made on Twitter, by some of the people that knew him best, such as David Draiman, the lead vocalist of the heavy metal group Disturbed. "Goodbye old friend," Draiman tweeted.
