July was a busy month for most NBA franchises reeling in high-calibre free agents, but for those like the Houston Rockets that failed to add the big name talent they coveted, a trade to acquire star PG Rajon Rondo could remedy their situation.

Houston made no secret they wanted LeBron James or Chris Bosh to go along with Dwight Howard and James Harden, but failed to lure either player to Texas, but now reports have the Rockets ownership looking to make a deal to add a third star player and Rajon Rondo seems to be that player.
The 28-year-old has played just 68 games over the past two seasons due to injuries, but all reports have the former first round pick in top health and ready to go for the upcoming basketball season.
Boston made a clear statement with the recent drafting of young point guard Marcus Smart and with his strong showing over the summer, the time could be now to hand the reigns over to the youngster.
Sports World Report has suggested that a deal sending Rondo to Houston for Patrick Beverley and Terrence Jones is a viable option and a closer look at a potential deal could be good for both teams.
Boston lacks the depth to become a quality NBA squad, but this deal would land them two skilled players with good upside and add the depth they need to compete for a spot in the Eastern Conference playoffs.
The Rockets would land the third star play they need to compete with the elite teams in the league and possible bring them a championship, making this a win-win situation for both and a trade that could shift the power of the league to Houston, but also give the Celtics the confidence they need to put the last couple of seasons in the rear view mirror and the players they need to start building the foundation they need for future success.
