Pop songstresses Christina Aguilera and Lady Gaga collaborated together on the new version of "Do What U Want," which was released on January 1.

Both vocalists performed this tune together on the season finale of The Voice, and it gained critical acclaim and rightfully so. This musical pairing was genius and ten times better than the version she had previously released with R. Kelly, which I had found "mediocre at best" in my Digital Journal review of her new CD Artpop.
They both showcase a lot of range and they sing with a lot of power, especially Aguilera, whose refreshing vocals bring the song to a higher level. Ironically enough, in the original version Gaga's vocals were slightly reminiscent of Aguilera's, and now it is hard to tell which vocalist is which, but it doesn't matter since it is a superb musical effort.
Hopefully this new version with Aguilera will fare well on the Billboard Hot 100 charts, and bring the song to a new peak position, especially since it has only reached No. 13. This dynamic collaboration garners 4.5 out of 5 stars. Well done ladies.
