Hollywood has long been a household name, and Bollywood joined it sometime ago. With a population of over a billion, Bollywood cinema doesn't need to sell its films overseas, but with its often spectacularly choreographed dance routines it is a massive crowd puller with the Indian diaspora. This year is also the centenary of this ad hoc institution. On May 3, 1913, a forty minute film called Raja Harishchandra was released in India. The complete film with some extras can be found on YouTube.
On Monday, an exhibition of Bollywood poster art opened at the Bromley Museum, Orpington. Running until November 8, admission is free, but there are two special workshops for kids: a Bollywood dance session on November 1 and a rangoli workshop at £1 per child.
