Phillip Phillips garners 2013 American Music Award nomination

The 2013 American Music Awards (AMAs) has been announced. American Idol season 11 winner Phillip Phillips garnered a nomination in the "New Artist of the Year" category, which is presented by Kohl's.

He is up against such talented musical acts as country duo Florida Georgia Line, as well as pop darling Ariana Grande, alternative rock band Imagine Dragons, as well as rapper Macklemore & Ryan Lewis.
An acoustic singer-songwriter, Phillips shared his excitement for this prestigious nomination via his official Facebook page. "Nominated for 'New Artist of the Year.' Voting for the category starts 11/1.Thanks American Music Awards," he posted.
This year, Phillips has had an amazing year on adult contemporary radio. His breakthrough single "Home" has stayed at the No. 1 spot on the Billboard Hot Adult Contemporary charts for 12 consecutive weeks, and his follow-up single "Gone, Gone, Gone" reigned supreme at No. 1 for five weeks, thus proving that he is a true force to be reckoned with.
