Edmonton has added plenty of good young talent through the NHL Draft in recent years, but now the team is looking to add some leadership for the youngsters and the latest reports have Toronto Maple Leafs defensive star Dion Phaneuf on their radar.

Phaneuf has good size at 6'3" and 214 pounds, but despite his success last season, he hasn't played to expectations and that has led to trade rumors this summer.
Edmonton already has some dynamic young scorers, but adding a player that can become an enforcer on the defensive side of the ice, could maker the Oilers a dark horse team to play in the Stanley Cup Playoffs next season.
Toronto has already made some roster changes this off-season and moving a player in the last year of his contract for some young prospects and draft picks is a move the Leafs front office must consider.
The Maple Leafs finally broke through and made the playoffs last season, but for this team to become a regular contender in the NHL, more size and youth is needed and this trade could help both teams as they look to improve on last years record.
