20 children killed at Sandy Hook school in Ct.

On Friday morning, a shooter with several weapons entered a small town school that had 456 children inside. He went to two rooms in total.

The suspect allegedly began by shooting the teacher and then gunned down the children in two classrooms at Sandy Hook Elementary School in Newtown, Conn.
Lt. J. Paul Vance, Newtown Police, said that the police will update the families about developments before they update the media. All of the parents of the victims have been contacted. Vance said that the first responders are also receiving crisis intervention.
Twenty-eight people were shot including the shooter. Police did not discharge any fire at the scene. Only one person, the school's vice principal, survived. Twenty of the dead were children. Eighteen of the children died at the scene and two more died at hospital. The gunman was also dead at the scene.
A secondary crime scene is at a residence in Newtown. A body who has not been identified was located in the home. It is now believed that the suspect's mother is the victim.
Two people are in custody in New Jersey, believed to be roommates of the shooter. There are also reports that the brother of the alleged shooter is in custody.
It is believed that the shooter came to the school for a mass killing with a primary target. The identity of that person is not known.
Principal Dawn Hochsprung was among the victims.
Family and friends are gathered at the local fire department. Grief counselors are on hand consoling the victims. Their children's bodies are still at the scene with no word on when they will be removed as the investigation begins. All of the shooting took place within two rooms.
The shooter allegedly lived with his mother. First reports named the suspect as Ryan Lanza but later reports have the shooter as his younger brother.It is now being reported that the suspect's name is Adam Lanza, 20, the younger son of victim Nancy Lanza. It is also being reported that the suspect was diagnosed with Aspergers. Ryan Lanza has been questioned by police in New Jersey and is expected to be released later tonight. The father of Adam Lanza has been questioned by police in Newtown. He is not a suspect and did not have prior knowledge of the crime. He and Nancy Lanza were divorced. Mr. Lanza has remarried.
At 3:15 p.m. Obama said that “we have endured too many of these tragedies in the past few years.” He said with his voice breaking that the majority of the dead were “beautiful little kids between the ages of 5 and ten.” Obama said our hearts are with the parents of the dead and the survivors, children whose innocence was torn away. He asked that Americans be there for the victims of this tragedies.
