Voyager is damaged and many of her crew perished in the wave and when the remaining crew members recover they find themselves about 74,000 light-years from Earth. They are so far from home that communication becomes impossible with the Federation or their families. The Maquis ship has joined the Voyager crew and both ships team together to find a way home. The Maquis captain, Chakotay eventually becomes Janeway's First Officer. Another crew member is Seven of Nine, a Borg humanoid, played by the stunningly attractive
Jeri Ryan.
They now find themselves in the Delta Quadrant and the region is unexplored. The crew meet some fascinating characters, many of them malevolent. Two crew members from the Delta Quadrant join the crew in their adventures; Neelix, a Talaxian trader and cook who becomes Janeway's guide and his partner Kes, a young Ocampan.
