Study finds that Walmart's prices beat Amazon's prices
A study found that shoppers can find better deals at Walmart than Amazon, both on the internet and at Walmart superstores.
According to an April study by Kantar Retail, a research firm, 36 items on Amazon were priced 20 percent higher than items at Walmart.
According to San Francisco Gate
, Kantar found that many types of items can be purchased cheaper at Walmart than Amazon, and this includes both online and at Walmart stores. Food on Amazon was around 60 percent higher than Walmart's prices.
According to Washington Post
, Ann Zybowski, a Kantar analyst, said that people trust Amazon to have products that do not cost a lot of money. Zybowski went on to say that Amazon does have competitive prices on many items and that is how the company attracted many customers.
Amazon still finds itself trying to catch up with Walmart. Amazon is working on trying to attract new vendors and lowering costs in the company's supply chain, according to Zybowski.
According to ABC
, Researchers decided to conduct the study after they discovered that many of Walmart's core shoppers were turning to shopping on the internet.
The prices did not include shipping. This is because Amazon and Walmart offer a few shipping options that can impact the cost. For example, Amazon will adjust their prices if Walmart or Target decides to run special sales on products.
