Lindsay Lohan to play Elizabeth Taylor in movie?
Actress Linday Lohan, who is completing a community service sentence as part of her probation for necklace theft in May and a DUI case in 2007, may soon be signing a contract to play Elizabeth Taylor in the Lifetime cable channel movie "Liz and Dick."
Larry Thompson, the movie's executive producer, told E! News
: "I've been talking to Lindsay Lohan directly, and with her reps." Thompson, however, says he has been talking to other actresses too, including Megan Fox. According to Thompson, "It's a very serious selection. It's like casting for Hollywood royalty."
But A.V. Club
opines that Thompson's claim in the E! News interview that Lohan is competing with Fox for the role is only an attempt to put Lohan under pressure to complete her community service in time. E! News
claims that "sources" say Lindsay is ahead of Megan Fox in the run to play Taylor.
Lohan may have got the message that her probation status is a "complicating" factor in the new movie deal for TMZ
reports she is working to complete her community service faster than required to join in shooting the flick.
Lohan, according to Fox News
, was scheduled to appear in court before Judge Stephanie Sautner on Tuesday to give her probation progress report. She has reportedly completed the required number of work shifts at the Los Angeles County Morgue and gone through the required four psychotherapy sessions. Fox News
reports that she has another hearing scheduled for February 15 and a final hearing on March 29.
claims that Lohan has been getting more movie offers in recent times because of the perception that the troubled 25-year-old is finally settling down to "maturity."
She could received a 270-day jail term if she fails to complete the required number of days at the morgue and in psychotherapy.
Legal hurdles for Lohan
reports that even if she manages to complete her court-ordered requirements and secures her role as Elizabeth Taylor in the Lifetime movie, other legal issues may prevent her from traveling to Canada to join in shooting . According to attorney Troy Slaten, in an interview with E! News: "March is when all of [Lohan's] requirements of probation are completed, but that's not when her probation terminates."
Lohan will remain in probation until May 11, 2014, and under the regulations she is not allowed to leave the state of California without the approval of her probation officer. Also, according to Canadian laws: "If you were convicted of an offense in Canada or outside of Canada that is considered a crime in Canada, you are considered to be criminally inadmissible to Canada."
Slaten says that, "In Canada, a DUI is a felony, they take it very seriously there in regards to entry. Canada says we want you to wait five years after probation ends for you to be allowed in, unless you have special permission."
Lohan's other legal troubles
reports that meanwhile, Lohan, the "perpetual defendant," has been served a new civil lawsuit which hopefully will not contribute to scuttling her opportunity for a comeback. The bizarre civil suit comes from a man called Thomas Green, who claims he was lured by Lohan into playing a key role "in taunting and killing of Osama Bin Laden via his computer." TMZ obtained a copy of the lawsuit filed in L.A. County Superior Court, a 12 page document filled with "incoherent gibberish." But the plaintiff, who claims to be a former U.S. Marine, is taking his civil claim seriously and actually hired a process server who served Lindsay while she was attending her probation progress hearing.
According to the plaintiff, who is claiming $300,00 for damages, Lohan "ruined his life" pretending to help him with his "Gulf Coast fundraiser website" business and got him involved in conspiracy to kill Osama Bin Laden. The plaintiff says that Lohan failed to provide help she promised but rather began mocking him with false messages and photos posted on Twitter and Facebook. According to Green, “The defendant kept the mind blowing games going with naughty school girl outfits in pictures Betty Ford in reference to songs I suggested (sic!)." Green complains that Lohan's relentless teasing drove him to “depreciated stage of delusion and hallucinations," during which he was arrested. Green writing in an incomprehensibly cryptic style says that after failing "to command [Lohan] to twitter and stated if [Lohan] acknowledges this is an Osoma Bin Ladden op all civilians in past wrong doing will receive clemency."
Green's concludes that “[Lohan] might be a high end prostitute."
