Two robberies were carried out in the same week of some of the world's elite in Italy. More than $15 million was stolen in their hotel rooms.
According to the daily La Repubblica, a Saudi Princess, who was not named, staying in Sardinia, Italy was burgled in her hotel room; more than $15.6 million was stolen. This has sparked a diplomatic debate between Saudi Arabia and Italy, “A military official from the Saudi embassy arrived in Sardinia and the Italian secret services and diplomats from both countries have been involved.”
In the same week, a Moroccan businessman was robbed at another luxury hotel, where Prime Minister Silvio Berlusconi was robbed. The burglars stole $200,000 worth of jewels and cash.
The daily La Stampa reported, “The thieves used a master key. In 10 minutes at dinner time, without making any noise, they managed to remove the safe from a suite occupied by the Saudi princess.”
In the same region, a German businessman was robbed. His safe was stolen from his room, which contained items worth millions of dollars and, once again, cash.
Investigators state that the robbery was carried out by expert gangs and received help from inside knowledge. The two previous hotel robberies were owned by the same chain: Iti Hotels.
