Lot18 Announces Benjamin Trent as Chief Technology Officer

>PRWEB.COM Newswire

New York, NY (PRWEB) September 06, 2012

Lot18, the New York-based company that provides its members with access to expert-selected, hard-to-find wines from around the world, has named Benjamin Trent as its Chief Technology Officer. Previously, Trent was CTO at DailyCandy, and has also overseen engineering at Massify, as well as at IAC.

“Ben is a proven leader who has managed dozens of people and projects simultaneously to incredible effect,” said Lot18’s President and co-founder Philip James. “During his tenure at DailyCandy, the company launched its commerce efforts, revamped its email-delivery systems, and greatly expanded its social and web presence. All this, plus his work in mobile – an area that frequently comprises 40 percent of Lot18’s daily sales – helped Ben stand out among the candidates. We’re very pleased to welcome him to Lot18.”

Trent joins Lot18 as it enters an aggressive phase of technological improvements and enhancements. This week, the company launched Lot18 Collection, a new look and experience for the site’s members. Collection allows Lot18 members to buy more of specific wines they purchased previously, at their own convenience, as well as explore a wider variety of grapes, regions and price points. Previously, a few dozen offers were available on Lot18, from four to 72 hours; now, with Collection, several hundred wines are available, with no time limits. Later in September, Lot18 will release a new universal version of its app for iPhone and iPad.

James added, “These are just two of the technological and data-driven changes we have longed to bring to Lot18. Ben will be instrumental in delivering myriad further enhancements that will make our wine-shopping experience the best on the web, and a paradigm for e-commerce in general.”

Lot18 has raised $45 million in venture financing from FirstMark Capital, New Enterprise Associates and Accel Partners. Since its launch in October 2010, the company has facilitated the sales of more than 1 million bottles of wine.
