Today RhinoSoft, a leading secure file transfer software vendor, announced that its Serv-U FTP Server has received a Certificate of Networthiness (CoN) from the United States Army.
The CoN process involves an extensive assessment to ensure a product meets or exceeds U.S. Army requirements for reliability, security, architecture, and integration with the Army’s existing IT infrastructure.
“Serv-U’s entry into the U.S. military space is a game-changer,” said Jonathan Lampe of File Transfer Consulting, a vendor-neutral firm that studies the managed file transfer industry. “Serv-U has already established itself as the leading secure file transfer technology for the Department of Defense’s preferred IPv6 protocol. Now that RhinoSoft has earned a CoN for Serv-U it is in position to become our military’s leading solution for FTP, SFTP, FTPS or web transfer deployments.”
RhinoSoft already uses FIPS 140-2 validated cryptography in Serv-U and plans to add more military-grade capabilities in its file transfer products, including full IPv6 support in its FTP Voyager client early next year. Existing company procedures also make RhinoSoft an attractive vendor for military applications.

Federal agencies have also taken notice of RhinoSoft’s investment in secure communications. In addition to sales to the U.S Air Force and U.S. Army, RhinoSoft received secure file transfer orders from the Department of Homeland Security, NASA's Jet Propulsion Laboratory, the Department of Defense, the Social Security Administration and the Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency (DARPA) in 2011.
RhinoSoft's Serv-U FTP server earned CoN CERT-201109033. RhinoSoft’s FTP client, FTP Voyager, earned CoN CERT-201006900 last year.
