FlatironsPlumbing.com Announces 2020 Winner of $500 Scholarship

Flatirons Plumbing announced the winner of their $500 scholarship contest held over the summer. Jasleen Batra, enrolled at CU Boulder, impressed the panel of judges with her commitment to clean water. We appreciate that mission. “We can live each day fear-free knowing that water filtration and treatment is protecting us from harm’s way. It is because of water filtration and treatment, and the help of Flatirons Plumbing, that we are able to stay happy, healthy, and environmentally conscious,” writes Batra in her moving essay, which began by imagining a Cholera outbreak, centuries ago, in Soho England.

Flatirons Plumbing created the scholarship opportunity as a way to help make college expenses more affordable for those who have chosen to help others by becoming scientists. The panel of scholarship judges selected Batra as the recipient of the $500 scholarship based on the quality of her essay and her admirable desire to help others. She won out over many other applicants.

Participants in the scholarship contest were required to hold a GPA of 3.0 or higher, as well as submit a letter of recommendation and unofficial transcript of their grades along with a 500-1000 word essay answering the question, “What problems do water treatment and filtration solve?”
