Dr. Jeffrey D. Gross has built a remarkable reputation in his over two decades of delivering quality care to patients. In very exciting news, Dr. Gross, now with now with SPINE in Newport Beach, CA, and Henderson, NV, crossed a milestone in giving back to his patients and community by creating access to high quality spinal care, including both surgical and non-surgical alternatives, who otherwise would have been unlikely to have been able to otherwise receive the treatment.

The scale of this philanthropic behavior has been truly impressive crossing the $100 million mark by December of 2019. Dr. Jeffrey Gross has been directly responsible for providing discounts for, donating, and creating charitable access in medical care for his patients, while paving the way for un-insured and under-insured patients to receive cutting edge access to care, unselfishly and with deep concern.

“It’s important we think about the less fortunate in our communities,” commented the clearly passionate Dr. Gross. “I am happy to have had the chance to help when and where I can.”

Showing admiration and appreciation for his work, the staff at SPINE celebrated Dr. Gross’s work with cake and champagne after clinic hours recently. Dr. Gross told the gathering that he was proud and honored to be able to help his many patients overcome inappropriate insurance denials, non-payments, and under-payments through a variety of methods, including setting aside a portion of his practice for charitable medical treatment. The biggest challenge was, and still is finding hospitals to also allow Dr. Gross’ willing charitable medical care to be provided when spinal surgery is needed. He went into the field of medicine to help people, and had come to learn early in practice that sometimes, helping someone as a doctor, includes assisting with providing access to medical care including access that is otherwise limited by the increasing costs of care.

Dr. Gross is a spine fellowship trained neurological surgeon. Less than 4% of his patient encounters are surgical, preferring to treat their neurological issues in more holistic ways which often prove very effective. He focusses on second opinions, revision cases, persistent symptoms despite treatment, and complex medical conundrums. The calculated amount of care includes charity care, write-offs and waivers, negotiated reductions, and discount care program creation at hospital and surgery center facilities.

A staff member at SPINE, remarked with enthusiasm about Dr. Gross’s character and values at the celebration, “Congratulations to Jeffrey Gross, M.D. and his lucky patients!”
