Alissa L. Van Horn Has Been Recognized Among the Top in Her Industry by Noticed©

Noticed celebrates its newest member, Attorney Alissa L. Van Horn

WESTBURY, N.Y. - February 26, 2018 - (Newswire.com)

Alissa L. Van Horn, Founder & Managing Partner, Van Horn & Friedman, P.C., has joined Noticed©, an invitation-only service for distinguished professionals. Van Horn has been chosen as a Distinguished Lawyer™ based on peer reviews and ratings, dozens of recognitions, and accomplishments achieved throughout her career.

Van Horn outshines others in her field due to her extensive educational background, numerous awards and recognitions, and career longevity. She earned her B.S. in Public Administration from Saint Joseph’s University before obtaining her Juris Doctorate from Widener University School of Law in 2005. Van Horn has received many honors over the course of her career, including having been selected to Super Lawyers®' New York Rising Stars® on three separate occasions and inclusion in the National Academy of Family Law Attorneys' Top 10 Under 40 for the last two years, among many others.

With over 10 years of experience dedicated to law, Van Horn brings a wealth of knowledge to her industry, and, in particular, to her area of specialization, family law. When asked why she decided to pursue a career in law, Van Horn said:

"Ever since I was a kid, I have always dreamed of becoming an attorney. I came from a divorced family and ultimately entered foster care when I was 16 years old. I initially wanted to become a lawyer so that I could support my family after growing up very poor. When I went into foster care as a teen, I became very passionate about helping other teens and other families in the foster care system. Throughout my years in practice, I expanded my desire to assisting families in need. Whether it is to end abusive marriages, bring happy couples together through prenuptial agreements or create families through adoption, my passion lies helping others through the difficult complicated and emotional legal process."

As a thought-leader in her field, Van Horn stays abreast of the latest trends in family law. In particular, she notes the changes in parenting roles in New York in recent years as it relates to custody cases and connected matters:

"There has been a big shift in custody as well as maintenance and financial obligations in New York divorce cases. It used to be that because a woman was seen as the nurturing one, mothers would likely get custody and the fathers would be responsible for alimony payments. Now, the playing field has become much more even with the courts looking at all facts before making a decision."

To complement her practice, Van Horn is an active constituent of her legal community. She regularly presents at Continuing Legal Education seminars for Marino CLE Institute and Lawline and is a member of local and national bar associations. She also volunteers her time by coordinating free legal seminars to help educate individuals involved in difficult family matters and is a proud member of Pinktie1000 through pinktie.org.
