Carbon International LLCNow Registered By Climate ActionReserve

>PRWEB.COM Newswire

Atlanta (PRWEB) June 15, 2011

Carbon International LLC, a leading provider of carbon credit trading solutions and other environmental management services, today announced it has been registered by the Climate Action Reserve, one of North America’s leading repositories of greenhouse gas emission projects.

“We are extremely pleased to be registered as a project design developer and an environmental commodity liquidator by the Climate Action Reserve,” said Carbon International CEO Mark Loewen. “This expands our market exchange reach to what is expected to be the preeminent cap and trade exchange market in North America.”

Under the Kyoto Protocol, the international agreement calling for industrialized nations to reduce greenhouse gases, forestry is a recognized method of reducing carbon emissions since trees absorb atmospheric carbon. The Climate Action Reserve enables organizations such as corporations to purchase certified emission reductions or carbon offset from other entities, for example, forest landowners.

As a result of its registration, Carbon International will be able to offer project design services, serialized offset and liquidation solutions as well as exchange trading for landowners who want to provide carbon offset credits to major emitters of greenhouse emissions. Under California’s AB 32 law, major emitters in the state are required to offset their greenhouse gas impact by purchasing carbon offsets credits.

In less than two years, Carbon International has reserved more than 150 carbon credit valuation projects in North America, Costa Rica, Honduras and South America. The company is considered to be the leading provider of carbon offset solutions in the southeast where 60 percent of the land from Virginia to Texas is forested. Some experts believe that southeastern forest store enough carbon each year to offset 13 percent of the region’s greenhouse gas emissions.

In addition to carbon credit trading solutions, Carbon International also offers other “green solutions” including sustainability reporting, as well green strategy and counsel for major corporations.
