Victims Speak: Newest Plaintiff In Talcum Powder Lawsuit Talks About Her Diagnosis With Cancer reports on a recent article by the Associated Press that discusses an ovarian cancer diagnosis that led to a $70 million verdict.

According to the article, the most recent plaintiff to be awarded money after a trial concerning the alleged lethality of Johnson & Johnson’s talcum powder products has stated that the money does not make up for her fight against cancer. The California woman was recently awarded the money after she filed a lawsuit claiming Johnson & Johnson’s talcum powder was responsible for the development of her ovarian cancer. It was the third big verdict awarded by a St. Louis jury against Johnson & Johnson in ovarian cancer lawsuits this year. Combined, the three awards amount to nearly $200 million, according to the Associated Press.

Many other women have filed similar lawsuits that have now exceeded over 1,000 in number nationwide. Women are claiming that they have developed ovarian cancer as a direct result of using the talcum powder as a feminine hygiene product. These suits state that Johnson & Johnson should be held responsible and should face charges of fraud, negligence and several others. Johnson & Johnson has continuously denied that their products are linked to cancer and has not issued any warning on the products.

The plaintiffs in these cases are citing nearly 40 years of research that has been done on talcum powder. While some claim that the powders may be linked to the deadly disease, others have found evidence inconclusive.
