Collective agreement reached between Brink's and Unifor Local 4266

Minister Leitch commends parties on reaching a new agreement for Brink's Ottawa-Cornwall employees

OTTAWA, Oct. 10, 2014 /CNW/ - The Honourable Dr. K. Kellie Leitch, Minister of Labour and Minister of Status of Women, congratulated Brink's Canada Limited and Unifor Local 4266 for reaching a new collective agreement for all employees operating out of the Ottawa-Cornwall office. The previous collective agreement for some 125 employees, working as assistant-cashiers, messengers, drivers, guards, money room clerks, coin rollers, janitors, rovers and ATM technicians/crew chiefs, expired on June 22, 2014.

  • Brink's Canada Limited provides armoured car transportation, ATM servicing, currency and coin processing and other services to banks, retailers and other commercial and governmental agencies.
  • The agreement was reached with assistance from the Labour Program's Federal Mediation and Conciliation Service, which provides dispute resolution and dispute prevention assistance to trade unions and employers under the jurisdiction of the Canada Labour Code.
  • Over the past five years, 94 percent of collective bargaining negotiations in the federal jurisdiction have been resolved without a work stoppage when the Federal Mediation and Conciliation Service was involved.
