Don Kellner Sets a New World Record Each Time He Goes Skydiving in PA

Skydive in PA with World Record Holder Don Kellner

Hazleton, PA -- (ReleaseWire) -- 09/25/2014 -- Every time Don Kellner skydives, he sets a new world record. That’s because Kellner, the part-owner of Above The Poconos Skydivers, entered the Guinness Book of World Records with the most sport parachute jumps made in the world on June 1991 with his 15,000th skydive. Since then, Kellner has increased the tally to over 41,000 jumps.

A United States (U.S.) Air Force veteran, Kellner never jumped with over 3,000 hours in military airplanes. He started skydiving as a civilian in 1961 and became the most experienced U.S. skydiver with 10,000 jumps by 1985. Two months after his 13,000th jump, he married his wife, Darlene, in a freefall ceremony. The couple celebrated 50,000 combined skydives with a December 2005 mid-air kiss, while freefalling through the winter air.

Safety is a primary reason Kellner continues to rack up world skydiving records. Together with his partner and chief pilot, Dave Price, Kellner maintains the oldest continuously operating United States Parachute Association (USPA) skydiving center in the world. Plus, Above the Poconos Skydivers staff makes all of their jumps after taking off from the Hazelton Municipal Airport at the foothills of the Pocono Mountains in northeast Pennsylvania into an easy-to-spot, mile long and obstacle-free landing zone. This skydiver school operates year round on weekends, since the instructors work at normal jobs throughout the week. They view skydiving as fun they get to share with their customers on the weekend.

Customer comments reflect favorably for Above the Poconos Skydivers, such as a comment made on July 23, 2014 by Jim…“If you want to skydive this is the place to go!
