SAN FRANCISCO, Dec. 23, 2013 /PRNewswire-iReach/ -- Stevie, the platform that turns your social feeds into a non-stop streaming TV experience, introduces its "Follow TV" feature, now turning not only your personal social feeds into TV channels, but also any hashtag or topic you've ever dreamed of.
"Follow TV" lets viewers watch the most up to date channels, curated automatically from trending topics and twitter hashtags, constantly updated, and instantly on, any time. Viewers can also create channels for any topic they choose, share and watch later on their Stevie or directly on the web.
The "Follow TV" dashboard lets users easily browse TV channels which correlate with trending hashtags on twitter. For example, #Thevoice channel instantly streams a channel of top videos, status updates, tweets, likes, events and headline tweeted by The Voice as well as The Voice fans. Users may switch channels within a constantly updated list of trending topics, or use the search box to look up any hot topic and immediately get a full Stevie experience for it. Even more fleeting topics like #HasJustineLandedYet become a full channel with this new feature.
"Working on Stevie, we've been discovering great TV channels hiding within social media feeds," says Yael Givon, Stevie's CEO. "We believe that in the future, TV viewing will be a lot more like Stevie - people will zap topics and hashtags, and get personal channels, rather than zapping channels that are pre programmed with one size fits all content."
This is another major content addition for Stevie, who not long ago released their "Celebrity Tweet TV" featuring Stevie channels of any celebrity, on demand. "Follow TV" now extends that idea further, into any hashtag or topic dreamable. Stevie is tapping into the tightening relationship of social media and TV viewers, letting TV fans follow their favorite topics on social media, as a TV experience. Stevie is available on web, iOS, Apple TV airplay and android.
Stevie is a leader in the future of content viewing, providing a personalized TV experience on any platform. The company was founded in October 2011 by Yael Givon, a seasoned web creative and experienced entrepreneur, after securing $600k from angel investors including Jeff Pulver, Gigi Levy, Simi Efrati & Asi Schmeltzer. Stevie graduated in September from the first Microsoft Accelerator for Azure program for innovative start ups in Tel Aviv, Israel, and launched on stage as a finalist at TechCrunch Disrupt NYC 2012. In April 2013, Stevie won the MIPCube Lab Competition at the MIPTV conference in Cannes, France. MIPCube Lab is an international competition featuring 10 startups that are helping to change the face of the TV industry.
In December 2012 Stevie raised $1.5 million Series A round from Horizons Ventures, the Hong Kong based fund that invested in Waze, Spotify, Facebook and Siri (pre-acquisition by Apple). The Stevies have a collective experience of 15 years of designing and engineering successful web, internet and TV products.
