French nationals returning from Syria could be "put under house arrest" and subject to tough surveillance, a government source told AFP on Monday.

The source said the presidency was considering "imposing draconian surveillance conditions" on any citizens returning from Syria, following Friday's Paris attacks which claimed 129 lives.
