‘God’ told tow truck driver not to help stranded Sanders supporter

When Ken Shupe of Shupee Max Towing arrived to assist stranded motorist Cassy McWade, 25, he noticed that her car had a Bernie Sanders bumper sticker on it and a Sanders yard sign in the window. At this point, Shupe refused to offer McWade service or assistance, leaving her stranded for another hour and a half while waiting for another tow truck company to arrive.

McWade had suffered an accident, leaving her car disabled along the side of Interstate 26. McWade suffers from psoriatic arthritis, fibromyalgia, Chronic Fatigue Syndrome and early-stage Crohns, and as a result is legally handicapped.

McWade had tried to call her normal mechanic, who lives about 45 minutes south of where she was stranded, but the mechanic was unable to service her, and referred her to Shupe.

Regarding Shupe, McWade told ABC13 WLOS “He goes around back and comes back and says ‘I can’t tow you.’ My first instinct was there must be something wrong with the car. And he says, ‘No, you’re a Bernie supporter.’ And I was like wait, really? And he says, ‘Yes ma’am,’ and just walks away.”

Shupe, a Donald Trump supporter, apparently believes that Sanders supporters are “socialists.” He also claims that he experienced issues with two previous Bernie Sanders supporters. over the past six months, who allegedly refused to pay him after he provided services. Reportedly, Shupe told McWade to “call the government.”

When asked about Bernie Sanders supporters, Shupe declared “I’m really not interested in doing business with that clientele.”

Shupe has stated that he did not know that McWade was disabled, though McWade claims that a handicap placard was hanging in her window. Shupe clarified that he would not have helped McWade even if he knew that she was disabled, but that he would have waited with her until another tow truck company arrived.

The Shupee Max Towing and Used Car sales Facebook page has since been bombarded with negative reviews. While Shupee is a self-proclaimed Christian conservative, many commenters are questioning whether such actions are in line with the bible and teachings of Jesus Christ.
