Man buys laptop off eBay, and receives photo of it

Paul Barrington, 38, won an auction on eBay, and he thought he was going to be receiving an Apple MacBook.

His winning bid was around $450, but the bargain on the MacBook, which can go for more than $1,000 brand new, was too good to be true. When he received his package, it felt really light and that’s because it contained a black-and-white photocopied photo of a the MacBook.

According to BT, Barrington wasn’t suspicious of the seller, as they had been a member for several years.

Barrington sold his last surfboard, which was his pride and joy, in order to pay for the laptop. He had plans on using the laptop to start a new career as a wedding DJ.

Barrington said that this was the first time since he was 10 that he didn’t have a surfboard. He had to give up his job in child care and he has been battling Bullous Emphesima, a lung condition, and as a result he has been in and out of the hospital in recent months.

Barrington did call eBay, and he reported the incident. He was told that he will need to wait several days in order to find out if he is entitled to a refund.

Barrington said that the worst thing was that he is trying to start his business up and this is just causing a massive delay.
