Aussies get behind petition to change currency to dollarydoos

The petition has been gaining popularity and thousands have already signed it. More than 17,000 people have signed the petition calling for the currency to be called “Dollarydoos.”

According to the petition’s creator, the Australian economy is struggling because of global commodity prices plummeting. The petition continues to say that this was why something is needed to stimulate the economy, hence the reason for wanting to change the name of the Australian currency to “Dollarydoos.”

People are encouraged to sign the petition because renaming the currency “Dollarydoos” will make millions of people want to get their hands on the currency due to the Simpsons reference, and then the Australian currency’s value will go up.

The reference the petition mentions is from a Simpsons episode that aired back in 1995. The episode was called “Bart vs. Australia,” and the father of an Australian boy freaked out over his son’s collect call from someone in the USA that ended up costing him “900 Dollarydoos.”

The petition needs a total of 25,000 signatures. As of now, it is not known if any Australian lawmakers back the call to name the country’s currency to “Dollarydoos.”
