The incident occurred on an eastbound Blue Train and was captured on video, which showed DeShawn Isabelle’s face, a middle school student. The victim and Isabelle were the only ones on the train, and he is accused of attacking her from behind after she took a seat on the train.
Isabelle’s mother recognized her son in a photograph, when it was released publicly, and she confronted her son. She then took him to authorities on Wednesday morning.
According to Huffington Post, the teen allegedly punched the woman and kicked her, as well as pushed her head against the ground. He then allegedly sexually assaulted her.
Isabelle is also accused of stealing $2,000 from the victim, who alerted authorities after he left the train. The woman said she was going to wire the money to her relatives.
Isabelle reportedly spent the money on some candy and Air Jordan jumpsuits. He was eventually arrested and is currently in custody on a $1 million bond. He is being charged as an adult and is facing charges of robbery and aggravated criminal sexual assault.
The attack left the woman with a concussion and she spent the night in the hospital.
