Aaliyah Taylor, 17, said a female officer arrived on Monday, and she noticed her (Taylor) dancing to a song. That’s when the officer had a laugh and told Taylor she had better dance moves.
The unnamed officer initially told the two groups of teens to leave, but Taylor challenged the cop to a dance-off. The officer agreed, but she said if Taylor won, then the teens could remain, and if the officer won, then the teens would have to leave.
Taylor said she never expected cops to be that cool. She added that there are good cops out there.
The officer has been with the police department for almost three years, and she recently completed a tour in Iraq. She said she didn’t want to be identified because the story wasn’t about her.
Cathy Lanier, the Metropolitan Police Chief, praised the officer’s actions. The mayor of the city also praised her actions.
Since being uploaded to Facebook, the video has received over 650K views and has been shared by thousands.
