Newsday also voted them the No. 1 chicken yeero sandwich on Long Island. “We had a great review from Newsday, where our sandwich came No. 1,” she said, which was great recognition for the eatery coming from such a popular media outlet.
The name of the restaurant, Yiasou Yeeros, deals with “yiasou” meaning “hello or goodbye” in Greek, and “yeeros” is the correct pronunciation for the culinary word. Just ask country mega-star Luke Bryan in his most recent viral YouTube video (with Jimmy Fallon). “That was funny,” she said, prior to adding that she is “Trying to revolutionalize the term gyro.”
On her immediate plans, Ms. Mantzoukas said, “I’m trying to take care of my customers and provide them with the best service I can, as authentic as it gets with the food.”
The most popular item on their menu is their chicken yeero, as well as the beef/lamb yeero. “Our french fries are hand-cut and our salads that come with the meals are fresh,” she said.
